Bland Lake Hideaway, the best place to stay in San Augustine, offers several unique stays. Along with the Schoolhouse in the Pineywoods, we have several other places available – Farmhouse in the Pineywoods, Cabin in the Pineywoods, and Buster’s RV Park. This AirBnB in San Augustine is a unique location. This cabin is built to look like a 19th century one-room schoolhouse which is complete with a bell in a cupola!

An overview of the History of the Schoolhouse

At one point in time, the water office for the San Augustine Rural Water systems was on our property. This schoolhouse was built as an office building for the water systems. The idea came from the picture of a little red schoolhouse. That picture now hangs in the Schoolhouse in the Pineywoods.

Amenities in the Schoolhouse

The Schoolhouse in the Pineywoods is a rustic one-room space. It has a kitchenette area with a sink, toaster oven, hot plate, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, and a small table and chairs. It has an armoire for hanging clothes; the iron and ironing board are stored inside the armoire also. It has a bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower.

The bedroom area has a queen-sized bed, a couch, and a television with a DVD player. It has windows along the back of the building which give you a view of Bland Lake. The windows have black-out curtains also; so, you can open the curtains as you please.

There is parking available just in front of the schoolhouse. The schoolhouse is its own separate building and has its own private entrance.

Adventures outside the schoolhouse

San Augustine, situated between two great fishing lakes – Lake Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend, offers great fun for all. You can rent a boat and hire a guide for either lake. Or, bring your own boat along. We have a place to park your boat too.
