Cabin in the Pineywoods at Bland Lake Hideaway is the best vacation cabin in San Augustine County. It is conveniently located just five miles from downtown San Augustine, TX.

History

This cabin, built by hand in the early 1980s, was originally built with care from all local materials. The front of the cabin was the original part. It was built as a canning kitchen. All of the ladies in the family would do all of their canning there. Many hours were spent together in that canning kitchen.

Then, in the ‘90s, it was briefly used as a family lodging after a house fire. It had a little loft where the kids slept. It did not have a bathroom, but it kept them warm and dry. A few years ago, an addition was made to make it into the cabin that it is today.
